At ABC Environmental Contracting Services in Springfield, we recently took on a project for a homeowner and tackled water damage restoration and mold remediation in Reeds Spring, MO. The homeowner contacted us after discovering recurring water damage in their bedroom and bathroom. The problem started with a pipe leak that had already been repaired a few times. This time, however, the damage was more extensive, and they noticed mold growing near the toilet in their bathroom.

Our Initial Inspection

As soon as we arrived at the property, we thoroughly inspected the affected areas, including the bedroom, bedroom closet, and bathroom. Using a moisture meter, we measured the moisture levels in the drywall and flooring to assess the extent of the water damage. It was clear that the repeated pipe leaks had caused significant damage, and mold was visible near the base of the toilet and under the flooring and drywall in the bedroom closet.

Steps We Took to Handle the Damage Caused by a Pipe Leak

At ABC Environmental Contracting Services in Springfield, we follow a thorough, step-by-step process to restore the affected areas to their original condition. Here's how we handled the water damage restoration and mold remediation for the homeowner in Reeds Spring, MO:

Water Extraction and Drying

To properly address the water damage, we concentrated on a detailed extraction and drying process to mitigate further issues. Here are the steps we took:

  1. Water Extraction: We first focused on removing the standing water that had accumulated in the bedroom and bathroom using high-powered extraction equipment. This step was necessary to prevent further damage to the flooring and drywall.
  2. Air Movers and Dehumidifiers: After extracting the water, we used air movers to circulate air and speed up the drying process. We also used dehumidifiers to remove excess moisture from the air.
  3. Air Purification: To eliminate any lingering moisture and reduce the risk of mold growth, we set up an air purifier. This helped improve air quality and provided additional protection against mold.

Mold Remediation

With the areas now dry, we began the critical task of mold remediation. During our inspection, we found mold growing near the toilet in the bathroom, and under the flooring and drywall in the bedroom closet. We carefully removed the affected drywall and flooring, taking great care to contain the mold spores and prevent them from spreading to other parts of the home. We also used a HEPA vacuum to clean up any loose spores and prevent them from becoming airborne.

Fogging

To ensure that no mold spores were left behind, we performed a thorough fogging of the affected rooms. Fogging involved using a fine mist of antimicrobial agents that penetrated hard-to-reach areas, killing any remaining mold spores. By fogging the entire area, we reduced the likelihood of mold spores spreading to other parts of the house.

Client Satisfaction

The homeowner in Reeds Spring, MO, was extremely pleased with the results of our work. They expressed relief that the damage from recurring pipe leaks was finally tackled and were impressed with the thoroughness of our water damage restoration and mold remediation process. The homeowner appreciated our clear communication throughout the project, as well as our attention to detail.
